What is the Cambridge National Certificate in Creative iMedia? Creative iMedia is one of the most important subjects you will ever study, put simply it is the study of how the modern world communicates. In Creative iMedia you will be learning the skills to make the most creative productions you can, be given your own personalised choice of briefs and get to use all the latest technology including iPads, TV Studio and sound equipment. It is equivalent to one GCSE.
What do you have to do? Right the first thing you should know is its 75% Coursework and 25% exam. So there is only 1 exam to sit and there is lots of creative coursework.
You will study 4 units: Unit R081 - Pre-Production Skills This is your exam topic, you will be quizzed on your pre-production knowledge for example, what is a storyboard? Why do people create production schedules? Legal implications on your work. You will then use these skills in the final and most exciting unit:
Unit R082 - Creating Digital Graphics Here you will be given a choice of two briefs to complete and then use digital design skills to create the product you have chosen. The key skills here will be learning Adobe Photoshop, learning hidden messages and will it incorporate Digital Photography!
Unit R091 - Designing a Game Concept Here you will be given a choice of briefs, you will simply have to design a new PS4/XBox/App game and pitch it to real game companies! You can create any world, any map, any characters and any type of story - really only your imagination is the limit, you will gain skills in Digital Animation and Creating Apps.
Unit R089 - Creating a Digital Video Sequence Here you will be given the chance to form your own production company and create a new multi-camera live TV studio production, as the clock ticks toward your final assessments - a complete live TV show! Design the set, create the content, get your crew ready and standby to go ON AIR! You will gain skills in: Camera Operation, Directing, Vision Mixing, Producing, Sound Recording and Editing.
